Husband-and-wife team Jim and Lisa Mastro met in Antarctica, where they were inspired by the stark grandeur of the place and the hardiness of the people and animals that inhabit it. Lisa holds a degree in marine biology but currently works in multimedia design; she is fascinated by the relationship between science and art. Jim also worked as a marine biologist for many years; he is a skilled photographer and writer. The Mastros' work has appeared in OMNI, Discover, International Wildlife, and Ocean Realm. They took first prize in the Earth magazine photo contest.
